The Leadership Excellence Program is an integrated series of global eLearning content and individual leadership coaching as well as action learning projects. This program applies proven tools and tactics to engage, inspire and develop your leaders, enabling them to deliver great performance.

What will I learn?
  • The program aims to help participants to:
    • Develop the capabilities required to operate at an advanced level;
    • Deliver quantifiable organisational improvements through Strategic Workplace Improvement Projects;
    • Determine ongoing professional development needs and take ownership for self-development; and
    • Take responsibility for managing self and team to achieve workplace challenges and outcomes.
  • You will learn how to develop and use emotional intelligence, communicate effectively as a workplace leader, implement an operational plan, promote innovation, lead effective workplace relationships & teams, manage people, facilitate continuous improvement, undertake project work and implement customer service strategies.
How does the Program work?

The program combines courses, Business Courses, Videos, Business Impact and Challenge series from Skillsoft’s eLearning content.

The program is broken into 6 Themes, each containing 2 modules. After you have completed the eLearning content for each module, you will be given the opportunity to apply your learning on the job through our “Research Tasks & Workplace Application” (RTWAs) activities on ALA Training Portal.

Each month the program work gives you an easily digestible amount of information that won't overload or impact on your work life. This allows you to better retain and transfer the knowledge of each module into your workplace, as well as throughout the remainder of the program.

Additionally, you are required to complete a workplace project or business initiative.

The “Research Tasks & Workplace Application” activities provides time to reflect on the content and your own thought processes, experiences, and work habits - allowing to make deeper affective and cognitive connections with the content, which contributes to long-term application of the principles that are covered.

What is the mode of delivery?

This is an online self-paced program. This means that you will complete your knowledge and initial skills development through online learning with specific milestones to complete along the way. You will also receive 2 x 1:1 mentoring sessions with an ALA assessor.

You will be given access to 2 learning portals:

  • ALA Skillport - to access Skillsoft eLearning course content
  • ALA Training Portal where you access all learning material.  These include:

Entry Requirements
Who is this course for?

This program is aimed at Managers and Business Leaders in general. People must be in a role where they can demonstrate responsibility for team or business unit performance. They should be self-directed and autonomous, working under a broad set of guidelines. 

This program would suit all managers & leaders. It is highly valued by organisations in both the public and private sectors and is delivered online, flexibly, with workplace application and business improvement initiatives meaning that you can continue in your current role as you study.

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who apply knowledge, practical skills and experience in leadership and management across a range of enterprise and industry contexts.

Individuals at this level display initiative and judgement in planning, organising, implementing and monitoring their own workload and the workload of others. They use communication skills to support individuals and teams to meet organisational or enterprise requirements.

They plan, design, apply and evaluate solutions to unpredictable problems, and identify, analyse and synthesise information from a variety of sources.

What is the Entry Criteria?

Minimum age requirements

  • You will need to be at least 18 years old.

Education requirements

  • While there are no formal education entry requirements, preferred pathways for participants considering this qualification may include: 
    • BSB42015 Certificate IV in Leadership & Management, and
    • minimum of 2 years of vocational experience, or at least 2-5 years of relevant vocational experience.
How does this course add value to my career path?

The course requires you to “apply your learning” into your workplace. You will be asked to reflect on your own experiences and organisation as you progress through each module. There are research questions and tasks you will need to complete in your own workplace.

Leadership development assists your career development by providing access to tools which will maximise your performance, including development plans and mentoring support.

Developing leadership skills is important to enhance your personal character as well as providing the necessary tools to achieve success within your career.

Leadership experiences shape individual character while promoting learning through action.
